AMRITA is designed to help you reconnect to the sweetness of life.
This week we will share practices, creative workshops, dining experiences, the ocean, a space. All of it is designed to return you to your inner nature and recognise the beauty, joy and pleasure you already hold. Gently moving through what gets stirred up first.
In the old story of the Samudra Manthan, the cosmic ocean is churned for the nectar of immortality, amṛta. Before the nectar rises, poison surfaces. Only when that is met and held does the sweetness appear.
The end of a year works the same way. Practice, the ocean and time and space to meet yourself naturally bring things to the surface. This week makes space to meet them, and to find what is quietly sweet underneath.
We will share practices, creative workshops, meals, the ocean and a space. All of it is designed to return you to your inner nature.
The methodology is explored naturally, drawing on the tantric understanding of the water element and the hatha yoga teachings on amṛta: the nectar said to flow from the crown, and the practices that preserve it. The week moves you through it all.
Why This Retreat?
Sri Lanka is intentional, not incidental. You are on an island in the Indian Ocean, in a country shaped by monsoons and surf breaks. December brings the start of the south coast season, as the water settles and the waves return.
We are based in Ahangama, a fishing village on the south coast between Weligama and Galle. The location is part of the philosophy.

Your Hosts
This home retreat is hosted by Rosie and Rash who live and work in Sri Lanka.
Rosie is a yoga teacher and retreat facilitator from England whose work is rooted in yoga, non-dual Tantra, embodied practice, self-enquiry and nervous-system regulation.
After years of teaching in London and fast-paced surf retreat environments, she felt called to curate something slower and more personal.
A space where depth is prioritised and where guests and their needs are met as individuals.
Rash is a Sri Lankan surf instructor known in Ahangama, on Sri Lanka’s south coast, for creating confident, independent free-surfers from beginners. His expert instruction supports guests in building confidence in the ocean through personalised, unhurried lessons that meet each person at their own level and fosters accelerated progression. Expect authentic local knowledge of the ocean.
Together, they host in a way that is welcoming, joyful and attentive rather than performative, offering guidance when needed, and space when it’s not.
